Sarah Howard is running against Arlan Meekhof for the 30th District Senate Seat in Ottawa County. As you are also aware I am sure, it is extremely difficult to unseat a republican incumbent in Ottawa County. Let's help Sarah achieve this goal. There will be a fundraiser at Porto Bello's Grand Hall (upstairs) on Monday, August 11, 2014 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. We will offer hors d'oeurves and a cash bar will be available. Members can contribute prior to the event at her website info@sarahforsenate2014.com. Just click on the "Donate/Support" tab on the right, and follow the directions. We will also take donations the night of the event. There are several levels of donors: $25 Freshman; $50 Sophomores; $100 Juniors; $150 Seniors. Checks can be made out to CTE Sarah Howard and mailed to PO Box 911, Grand Haven, MI 49417-0911. Come hear how Sarah Howard would like to change the direction our state is headed. Stuff the Bus
Greater Ottawa County United Way is gearing up for their annual "Stuff the Bus" event. This event will help students K-12 get the supplies they need for a successful school year. Last year they were able to collect more than $16,000 in supplies which translated to more than 500 backpacks stuffed!
The ESC will have a collection box in the main entrance from July 28 - August 11. The Salvation Army in Grand Haven and Holland will help distribute the packs to kids in need from all areas of Ottawa County. Below is a list of school supplies that are greatly needed for students of all ages:
- Calculators - 10 digits
- 1-inch, 3 ring binders
- 3 ring college ruled paper
- 5 tab dividers
- Spiral notebooks, 70 count, college rule
- Pencil sharpener
- Crayons
- Glue sticks
- Colored Pencils
- Pens
- Pencils #2
- Eraser, large pink
- Ruler, 12" plastic
- Yellow Highlighters
- Pocket Dictionary
