The state House this week passed budget language forbidding the Michigan Department of Education from implementing the Common Core State Standards, which would result in every school in Michigan failing to make Adequate Yearly Progress, as well as result in the loss of federal school funding.
The House and Senate this week passed education funding bills that provide slight increases for K-12 schools, community colleges and universities — but still fall short of providing proper funding for public education.
